If we observe the overview of the current COVID-19 outbreak, we would realize that the situation in Thailand has not yet been alleviated, and rather seems to have become more severe as the fifth wave. The measures of the government and Ministry of Public Health are also becoming intensive again. Likewise, the security service of Guardforce Security still adheres to the government’s safety measures, and is always strictly monitoring the situation, i.e., security services, employees’ care, recruitment, and selection to work at the company. 

Because security jobs mainly rely on “humans” for work, therefore, we give precedence to the sequence of recruitment and selection. That is because whether or not these jobs would generate satisfactory feedback or be successful, it is all depends on the employees’ performance in meeting the customers’ needs or not. Therefore, recruitment and selection are as significant as personnel administration. Undoubtedly, we are ultimately strict with the security job application of all applicants.

Primary qualifications of a security guard of Guardforce

Due to the current crimes that keep increasing everyday, illnesses, and other social issues, security is indispensable for society and is one of the top professions. Personnel in this profession are security guards in charge of securing people’s life, properties, businesses, stores, companies, and even government agencies. They all need security to protect everybody’s property and body. 

Furthermore, nowadays, the duties of the security guards  include much higher responsibilities because they must take care of and secure people’s life and property, as well as examine, inspect, and facilitate people in other aspects as assigned by their agencies or the government sector. They must also adhere to the strict objectives and discipline of the work. Therefore, we must give precedence to the recruitment and selection procedures to work at the company with their full efficiency. 

According to the Security Guard Business Act B.E. 2558 (2015), the application for and granting of a license shall be in compliance with the rules, procedures, and conditions prescribed in the Ministerial Regulations. The security guard company must verify the criminal records of its security guards, and all security guards must attend security trainings. According to Section 34, an applicant for a license to be a licensed security guard must possess a qualification and not be under any of the following exclusions.

a. Qualifications

1. Thai nationality.

2. Not under 18 years of age.

3. Has completed compulsory education under the law of compulsory education.

4. Has received a certificate of passing a training course on the security guard’s

5. operation from a training school recognized by the Central Registrar under paragraph two.

b. Prohibitions

1. Is an alcoholic, or addicted to narcotic drugs or infected with a communicable disease determined by the Committee.

2. Is a person of unsound mind or mental infirmity, an incompetent or quasi-incompetent person.

3. Has been imprisoned by a final judgment on account of an offense concerning life and body, an offense concerning property, a sexual offense under the Criminal Code, an offense under the law on gambling, or an offense under the law on narcotics, except for an offense committed through negligence or a petty offense, or has been released for not less than three (3) years before the date of the application for a license on account of an offense other than a sexual offense under the Criminal Code.

4. Has had a license to be a licensed security guard revoked for not exceeding two (2) years before the date of the application for the license to be a licensed security guard.

Recruitment and selection procedures in the New Normal of Guardforce Security

Guardforce Security seriously gives precedence to COVID-19, both in terms of our current employees or the following job application procedure for applicants who find security jobs  to work at the company in order to assure all customers of our service.

Screening procedures

  •  All applicants must have a negative antigen test kit (ATK) or negative polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test result before the application. Each applicant must also enclose proof of vaccination. According to the company’s policy, 100% of the employees must be vaccinated, both new recruits and full-time employees. All of them must be vaccinated.
  • To complete the application form, applicants will receive the screening form for the COVID-19 risk assessment, i.e., symptoms observation and timelines of their travel to different places. It is a standard form in compliance with the measures of the Ministry of Public Health.
  • Lastly, all applicants will be tested for basic general knowledge in order to consider their suitability with the positions. If they pass the test, the next step is a social distancing interview. 

Post-selection procedures

  • After passing the primary selection, there is the security guard training in compliance with the Security Guard Business Act B.E. 2558 (2015), which is a compulsory security course. 
  • The training duration of not less than 40 hours consists of the theoretical phase for 16 hours and practical phase for 24 hours.  The atmosphere in the training class is open-air with an airy space and at least 1-meter of social distancing until the training is completed. 
  • During the training, all employees are required to stay at the accommodation provided by the training center, and are not allowed to go outside the company area in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to others.
  • The whole training of Guardforce Security is under a closed system, that is, to maintain privacy and set the restricted area, along with social distancing and ultimate strictness of cleanliness.

*For special agencies to where employees of Guardforce Security must work, i.e., BTS, MRT, event guard , airport security Guard, Security Guard for Factory, or Security Guard for hospital in Thailand , the company will provide extra training to emphasize special skills or different work regulations from the other agencies.

Therefore, we have issued a code of conduct for the COVID-19 situation under the regulations and rules of the Ministry of Public Health in compliance with the standard of organizational security against disease by requiring all employees (100%) to be vaccinated in order to create body immunity and to prevent infection.     

We enforce strict COVID-19 testing before work in order to prevent the spreading of the virus by using an ATK test, which is conducted by registered nurses. Therefore, customers can be assured of the safety and precision of the test. In case of a positive test result, those employees or applicants would be sent for a further RT-PCR test at a hospital immediately.   

 For customers of any agencies who are still worried about their safety against COVID-19, they can select the employees who are fully vaccinated, or customers can ask them to take a weekly COVID-19 test before work. A proof of vaccination and tests are regarded as significant. Customers can view these documents to support the selection of the employees.

The company also contains other countermeasures, e.g., body temperature measurement of all employees, customers, or visitors before entering the office area together with alcohol gel service points in the company. Hand soap and paper towels are also provided.  Disinfectant is regularly sprayed around the company area as appropriate. Contact surfaces in the office are also disinfected. These are for the safety and good health as well as sanitation of our employees.
